Getting a new laptop tomorrow. Until then, and for a while now, my computer access will be, and has been, quite limited. Art critiques will continue from tomorrow on, probably.
Favorite alpha kid is Roxy, favorite beta kid is Rose, favorite troll is Equius. I suppose my least favorite alpha kid would be Jake. He just really doesn’t interest me. Same with my least favorite beta, Dave. My least favorite troll is probably Gamzee, but I had to think about it for a while.
I’m not much of a shipper, so that last one is hard. I really like Equius and Nepeta as moirails, but matespritship between them induces seizures. Does that count?
Okay, so I’m not finding anything really putrid in the tags, so I’m open to submissions of anything: Drawings, roleplaying, music, cosplay. The works.
Or just some old fashioned debate with anyone that’s interested.
C’mon, hit me.
Aw shit no you din’t. Mm mm. Nuh uh. Das sum prime level di’respect righ ther- Fuck it, I’m bad at that.
Sure, whatever floats your boat.
You’re gonna need to be a little bit more specific, lambchop.
Here’s the picture. I’m sorry if I’m bothering you. It’s one I did a little while ago then edited/fixed last night.
It’s not fantastic, but I don’t hate it. I actually find it pretty cute. The face is well drawn, the hair is nice but a little choppy, and the colors are pleasing. The text is pretty bland and badly organized, so I would work on that.
I’m also saying that everyone has the right to be a jerk. As well, everyone has the right to improve and show the jerks that called their art shit. On that note, I feel like my performance is actually rather subpar, considering the fact that I’m not being nearly mean enough compared to the likes of Alex.
Oh I must confess, I am overdressed.
Are you not impressed?
Darling I want to…
I like the texture, it looks very nice.
Unlike everything else I see here.
Caliborn and Calliope seem to have massive green eggs for heads, and Calliope’s expression makes her look like she’s extremely intrigued by the ceiling. Not to mention her proportions make her seem like a long green sausage in a dress.
Caliborn is nothing special, but I can’t rip on him as much as Calliope. The artist was smart enough to cover most of him up in the LE coat, but his expression is still unsettlingly awkward.
Also, that’s not how shading works. The light, or lack thereof, will not appear the same on a figure as it does on the wall. That’s just how light works. But I won’t really get all up in your grill about it. It’s a common mistake that’s really easy to make.
simplistic-celv replied to your post: I’m sorry, but I think I’m late to corgi school! A new mod? Would it bother you terribly to reintroduce yourself? I really love this blog and I wanna know all the mods ^^ of course if you don’t have the time I totally understand
My name is Calvin too, nice to meet you new mod.
Sweet, good to meet you
I’m actually surprised that you’re the only one that’s messaged me back. I was relatively lenient with your less-than-stellar piece of what one might describe as artwork.
And while all of your points are valid- Wait, none of them are. For one, the number of times you’ve read Homestuck is irrelevant. Second, you are indeed entitled to drawing him in the lackluster way that you did, but I am also entitled to tell you that your work is subpar. As for the neck and cheeks, while LE is certainly not human, his anatomy is based off of a heavily muscled human, and his head is indeed similar to a green human skull. It was never my intention to tell you that he should have been drawn with standard cheeks, but rather the way that you drew them was not terribly appealing, and made them seem flat. In terms of the neck, even if I forgave the fact that it’s not really that thick, poor LE seems to be without a throat. Poor lamb. Finally, while I appreciate gif predicament, my point was simply that you could have made the static colors more than just yellow and black.
In conclusion, I have every right to criticize your style. And surprisingly enough, I would be genuinely pleased to see you improve. Use more references and plan out the drawing a bit better, would be my advice.
Oh, and I actually do enjoy how you mixed the greens for the shading of his head. There’s room for improvement, but it’s still neat.
